you can make a memorial time news broadcasted to all over the world, because you have a lot of resources. but people in that places are abandoned because they are hopeless, poor, minorities, not western minded, and so on and so on...
voice of america with bahasa indonesia told us how important 9/11 for indonesia. even we indonesia not so important economically for US. voa is a sound of a big big old uncle sam. uncle sam realize that now is the time for ASIA to lead the world economically.

When there is an exam time, there is a side job to me to be a supervisor of exam. now i want to share my experience during watching people doing an exam.

When I saw a Hollywood movie, by a title American High School, I saw a bad example of school and its environments. May be that is only a parody or a real life. I don't know exactly. But when I attend a training of trainers held by council for economic education, i felt that an exam prepared so serious. one people with one chair by the title of the person. The question chosen person by person. Last 2008 I get the other serious test when conducted a test by OTTO Bappenas, So serious until every person must showed an ID before entering the room for an examination.

in my higher education institution, every room have a different way of exam. some required an open book style or closed book one!

Support for Egypt, Dukung Mesir!

We must support Egypt people from an oppressed regimes, Mubarak, Sadat, and may be the next one. We must support the democratization processes in Egypt by supporting elements of people power at Tahrir Square and other cities. And all of demonstration to support them all around the world. What is the meaning of democracy? I thing its mean that vox populi vox dei. It means that every single person have a rights to live safely right now and at the future.

Indonesian people power at 1998 make a fall of soeharto's regime. Politicking in Egypt done for the shake of US, Israel, and other big and dominant countries with oil bussiness in the world. Obama still watching and hoping the new Egypt. As a muslim I pray for people died at Egypt's riots. May Allah give them the right place! Inna lillahi wa inna lillahi roji'uun.

There are about six thausands of Indonesian studied and worked at Egypt. Egypt also prominent supporter, firstly announced their support for Indonesian independence at 1945. So, Egypt's matter is so important for us, Indonesian. We hope Egypt will be recovered soon. Wallahu a'lam !

Kalau ke Medan, jangan lupa singgah ke Simalem, disana ada Resort yang mempunyai pemandangan yang sangat cantik, melihat danau Toba dari atas bukit. dikbukit itu juga ada beberapa venue yang sangat menarik, misalnya pertanian dengan bahan-bahan organik sehingga bisa memperoleh hasil pertanian yang berpola organik seperti kopi simalem, teh hijau, dan variasi pangan lainnya.

Kalau memang punya uang banyak dan maksudnya emang jalan-jalan. Mampirlah ke Danau Toba dan Pulau Samosir. Meskipun sudah ada tanda-tanda degradasi alam karena perubahan iklim dan ulah manusia. Kita, sebagai turis lokal, punya kewajiban untuk datang kesana turut mendukung dan mencintai warisan bangsa ini. Karena kita orang datangnya untuk ikut training of trainer, yaa jadinya datang dengan mencuri-curi waktu untuk memperoleh kesempatan menikmati medan.

Sebagai aktivis goweser jakarta... saya tidak melihat adanya ruang publik yang luas bagi komunitas bersepeda, bike to work dan sebagainya. Mungkin gak kelihatan kali... karena seharian di hotel mulu :) Tapi suer deh... kota ini tampaknya gak punya ruang yang cukup untuk pedestrian (pejalan kaki) dan (lagi) sepeda ! Yang ada adalah macet sampai malam. Dan mungkin ini dampak dari peradaban "Barat". Mall tutup jam 21.30 WIB. berarti toko-toko lain bisa buka sekitar sampai jam 22.00 WIB.

Pulangnya mampir ke Brastagi, disana ada buah-buah unik yang cuma ada di sana. Di Pasar Brastagi bisa diperoleh kaos, ulos, dan kerajinan tangan lainnya.

finally i can reach medan, a biggest city at sumatera island that characterized as metropolitan city. a friend from unipa surabaya told me that it size is not so different with surabaya. in this time, i can say that a lot of people with chinese ethnicity in front of my face. may be because my step here just so short. from polonia airport, aryaduta hotel and palladium plaza. a big mall for urban people at medan city.

I came here by invitation from CEE. A non profit organization funded by donation from united states of america people. We do a Module B Seminar guided by two faculties from economic experts from USA's university, Jane Lopus and Steve Cobb. For initial days here i adapt with condition, habit, foods, and drinks available at the hotel. Could be said that employers in aryaduta give better services that people here.

My module taught about micro economic. we talk about market structure, monopoly, oligopoly, market competition, etcetra. We did some simulation about the lectures guided by jane and steve. meanwhile svetlana and nindy managed our accomodation assisted by rizki and lukman. we have lita and anggi as interpreter.

At 4th day i miss internet connection. so i seek information about it from my colleagues. aryaduta hotel medan give a better services than aryaduta jakarta. here we get a free access for internet in our room. thanks aryaduta! i try to download a software from softpedia and add a writing to my blog (this writing) and it so easy to publish.

I feel so excited for tomorrow. We will get a half day class and we have a plan to go together to brastagi. see danau toba from far away and buy some food for dinner

Making passport at immigration office at your city, get medical check up and get a visa from china embassy at kuningan district at jakarta. My kid had been get a circumcision at his one year old age.

Next time I will do a tasyakurran at my parent house at cipongkor,bandung barat, wet java. a kind of ceremony to thanks God for all fortunes and thankgiving and also make a prayer for good future for my nuclear family, my big family and all of muslim all over the world.

I think to study abroad is a new life that must be pepared. somedays we will confused with all new things to be done before. A colleagues from biro kerjasama luar negeri of ministry of national education told me to make a check lists to be prepare. If I did it may be the first one of my list is to make some passport for my spouse and my two children. then i must contact the embassy of people republic of china at kuningan jakarta, fo my visa. Before it, I must have a medical check up report from reputable hospital in Indonesia. Until this time, I stil do not know the criteria of medical check up as requested by central china normal university.

So, at this moment I wait a admission notice from pak Yudil for my visa application and prepaing my family to get ready for the new condition. i think my kid must be circumcised is better for his health and make a lessen risk related with his penis. in my planning, if there is a God Willing, I will bring my family to Wuhan after my six months staying there or up to a year. You know that when you study for postgraduate degree, the bariers mostly come from your self psychologically. I need a support from my family and when i left my family in Indonesia, actually they stil in my charge

I have had heard from someone at psychological unit that the energy or the spirit always dispersed to other people around you. Its mean that when you are very struggle to reach your aim, your destiny... so people around you also will think twice about their intention in their life. It look like feeling sleepy. When we feel sleepy in a congregational agenda or praying Jum'at for muslim. our behavior will be spread to people around us. Usually if the preacher talks too much with uninterested speech, and use long-long time, the people who sit down to hear his preaching will be very sleepy. When some one sleepy the others will take position to go to dreaming world.

Sometimes we can get a self motivational spirit from a meditation. As a muslim, sholat is a meditation to me, altough I not always feel it ;). Actually for muslim who did sholat (praying 5 times daily). In my workplace there was an agenda to invite a people from ergonomic gymnastic organization. They came with a new comprehensive understanding about sholat as ergonomic gymnastic that helped us to be healthier than before. So, we must sholat (pray) with relaxed condition. The time of praying also became a point of view for healthy factor. Why Alloh instructed us to pray five times is because the importance for us to move our body at our praying as meditation from routin's job.

As modern people, people now always sit down during their working. That is not so good for our health. Pray as did by Muhammad PBUH. Shollu kama roaytumuuny usholly....

For me the other thing to motivate myself and others is by music. I fond of various music from traditional as Sundanese music, javanese music, benyamin sueb music, kus plus music, classic music, blues, rap, or a sorts of nasheed. I recommend youtube and youtube downloader software as a good helper to find your favourite motivational music. From it I found an american indian music, flute music and maori's te aroha song! That is amazing ! With this technology we really really feel that this world being smaller than it use to be.

Heroes created from a mistakes. After buried for more than two months, the 33 people will get a new challenge as a celebrities. They got more and more appraisals from all around the world. Invited to many-many agenda inside and outside the their country. But the real hero is the president. He did what ever he can do to make a survival aids for them. He is a great politician and a great statesman ever heard for this moment. The best hero at this moment is the leader of the miners, Luis Urzua. His leadership made a good relationship between miners emotionally and physically. He managed all things inside the cave until they out from down of the earth.

Teachers also had a potency to be a hero. If they can teach the students better and better. Being inspiration for them and make them motivated to face the future. One competencies to be grasped by teachers at primary school is how to integrated different lesson in one time instruction. This is my lecture's note for today. I invite my students - teachers from primary schools at Jakarta - to think again about integrating lesson for students at lower classes.

Nowaday is days for waiting some progress in my life. A Moment to Wait a good thing will come or go... Out to Wuhan China or stay here at Jakarta, Indonesia. My older sister came to Jakarta yesterday by a message from my parents. They very keen to know about my next planning in near future. About my new home to stay there or not, about my toddler's circumcision agenda, where it will be happen?

I arrived in my base camp in the morning but I forget something. I did not bring room's key. So I couldn't do anything important here. But it is the time to socialize with others. I got a glass of coffee at pantry room and involved in a light conversation about home and hajj journeys with fkip uhamka staff. Just wondering how people get a breakfast around the pantry.

I did not get a teaching schedule this day. So this time is a time to prepare my tomorrow's teaching. But I feel so lazzy today. After checking my email inbox, skimming interested e-mail, then I play spider solitaire for a while. Yeah today is Friday, felt as shortest day for me. Before praying Jumat I meet with Umam, a student from mathematics department who tried to apply for a two months short course at United State. He actively member of a Toastmaster, a club for english speaking club which regularly make some competitions, meetings at cafee or restourants arounds Jakarta.

Research Ideas: Coming up with a good research topic is quite an exigent task. One must have a subject from which ideas can be spawned. Before start giving a thought to your ideas, think about what is the purpose of your paper and the echelon you are writing. Research questions can be devised from the ideas which play a vital role in making your research paper remarkable. Your questions should be challenging and focused. Try to explore from as many resources as you can, like books, internet, interviews etc. But you should be quite creative and analytical while using information from the various resources. Ideas keep on coming, so make notes as phrases as they come into your mind so that later on it would be quite easy for you to remember.

Stages for Research Ideas Development

1) Map Making: Segregate your study boundaries for the theme. Frame your questions in a systematic order. Think freely on all the potential ideas coming into your mind don’t get restricted to any one or undermine any one idea, rather keep revaluating them until they become best or totally left out .
2) Make a Record of Questions: Rank your questions depending on the echelon or subject area and store them. Move on from simple areas to harder areas.
3) Brain Storming: Have brain storming session with your peers, superiors on your questions. At each level keep modifying them or totally eliminate some if required.
4) Real: The piece of work done by you should be practically applicable and not abstract depending upon the level and the type of study you are doing.
If you are resourceful then, coming up with good research topics is not that difficult job. Having a clear picture of your theme, what you will write with a little writing skill is required to write a good research paper.

Dear my blog. I really don't know about my next destiny. But I still make as good as I can do in learning english and spending money. I need some money to buy a property, actually my first property owned by my family. A small property to live together at eastern side of Jakarta City. Not so far from a kindergarten and a public primary school. Entry point is from Raya Bogor Street, near Hek Crossroad. Unfortunately this property has a narrow street, at the back of another house. But this is what I can afford for my family. I wish at the future I can make this home better or may be I can move to another home!

I still wait for my application at Curtin University at Perth, Australia. I hope I will get a free pass to study here. I have been accepted by my government to get a scholarship for postgraduate study abroad in education department this year 2010. Alternative for my choice is Huangzhong National University at People Republic of China. It recommended by a fellow at MONE (Ministry of National Education).

Alhamdulillah i have a good time to continue my habit. I hope I will always di this (writing) every day. But there were a lot of works offline to do at this ramadhan month. I had a job to make a good presentation about economic education for teachers from several places at jakarta. they attended the training to fulfill requirements for their professional license as teachers as standardized by ministry of national education.

A lot of fun and works to do there at LPMP DKI classes. they were very excited to make a lesson plan for their peer teaching practices. Some of them got a time to meet with their old friends from their past. They have to stay at LPMP. They were at their productive ages, older than me. 1. It’s only temporary

Settling into a new country, learning how to live in a new town, speak the language, make friends, shop and cook… this is not simple. So it’s no surprise really that you may start to feel anxious, depressed, or stressed.

But these feelings will pass. As you become more confident in your language ability, as you make those friends, and as you get to know your way around, you will start to enjoy all the differences of this new culture. And that, after all, is one reason why you wanted to travel in the first place.

2. Things will be different. But that doesn’t mean they are wrong.

You may be surprised by how different the culture really is. People may wear more casual clothes, behave differently with the opposite sex, be very strict about punctuality, or drink and smoke in public.

Adjustment phase: As you become more confident speaking the language and with your daily routine, things get a little easier. You make new friends, join in community activities, and learn how to deal with any problems.

Bi-cultural phase: now, you feel comfortable living in two cultures at the same time. You feel like you belong.
5. It’s up to you

How you cope with culture shock is entirely up to you. And there are things you can do to make it easier.

Remember, overcoming culture shock is vital if you want to get the most from your international studies. And it’s also the best way to boost your confidence and get the skills you need to work and travel around the world.

Yes, today is my first time to go to Graha Kencana. A huge building at Pejuangan Street, at the same street with RCTI a prominent television station at Jakarta and Indonesia at all. At this building I meet with bu Merry and Pak Walter both from Global Nathaniel and Curtin University International Student Admission. The day before, Bu Merry and mba Olga had phone me to follow an english test named CUTE to straightly pass to the program I need to get BERMUTU DIKTI Scholarship.

I went there by Primajasa bus as recommended by Ika, a friend, from Pasar Rebo crossroad. the fare was five thousands rupiahs for AC Economy type. Waiting there three person from Udayana Bali and UII Yogyakarta. Test began at 10 am, the test took only one hour consisted from listening, reading, and writing.

today we did an inauguration for teacher's students who did qualification upgrading through open distance and e learning at this private university. honestly it did well but not as good as expected by the role model of system. There were obstacles from two sides of us. Teachers (lectures) and students.

We the teachers had an older paradigm. Not ready to involve in a new system like this. They just care about face to face program. The agenda opened by a key speech from a bureaucrat, actually a director of Educator Qualification from Ministry of National Education. This guy is not so brilliant, just quoted some government data about teacher professionalism. So boring to heard an oration just tell about formal information from government. We do not need this, as a future teachers we need a lot of information about contexts of education here now and future.

Andrea Hirata's New Story

Nowadays I just read a twin book written by Andrea Hirata. I bought it from Khatulistiwa dot net, a reputable online bookstore in Indonesia. So far, i feel that khatulistiwa, glodok elektronik and a tshirt online store gave me a good online services to me. I had had buy several books online from khatulistiwa store by cost on delivery system. It quite cheaper for me who have a rigid workload almost at every weeks. Andrea Hirata's book told me about a people at the village's stories which drawn a pictures of Indonesian people and especially Melayu ethnic.

This book consisted from two book but united in one printing design. The first novel titled by Cinta di dalam gelas (love in the glass of drink) and the second named as Padang Bulan (Fullmoon). While I do my task at my faculty, i read this book. I felt Andrea's skill in orchestrating words in Bahasa Indonesia with odds proverbs and funny realities and point of views.

Love as felt by a simple person who just know the first and the last love for her. Sacrifice, be one of main idea of Hirata's book.

Today i get a second option for my study. China ! a big country with a lot of people there 1.2 billion people ! I can not imagine cities at china, just some scenes from hongkong movies. The friend of my boss will help me to search a letter of acceptation for my next postgraduate study. In China or Japan ! Obama's brother is in China, so I think China right now is a multicultural nation !

when i watch Hollywood movies, i found many people speak bad words that not suitable for english learner. movie script from internet by srt type help me to understand the dialog by subtitling available at many sites like imdb site. Why people like to use thst bad words like jackass, screw up, etcetra. May be because the habit and the culture of the people filmed. TED.com gave me a good sample of good english from elites, as they spoke about innovation, creativity, global warming, education, entrepreneurship, climate change, technology, culture, reformation and many more. I think they were do not speak english fluently, but they gave an example of english as every day language.

In my opinion, here in Indonesia, if we heard teenagers and guys speaking, they use slang language, a common language that mix bahasa Indonesia with english and also local language and not ordinary young people language.

Holiday not only a holy day for me. Because as a muslim, a great day called holy is friday. At this day we men compulsory to pray Jumat Praying together. It called that jumat praying is like a Hajj for people with no enough money to do Hajj journey.

Last sunday I just stay at my home, actually rented home- to spent my time with my son and my daughter. I felt what my wife always feel every day. My growing son, at his seventh month always crawling outside home and to the kitchen. Ate every stuff he met. So, we have to take care about him carefully.

My first daughter grew up bigger right now. She drink many milk every day and night. From Muhammadiyah Muktamar Bazzaar at Jogja, I bought two clothes for her. Just one fit with her body. We tried to reduce it by warning to her. But at more of time we loose. We can not ignore her crying at nights to require some milk.

Saturday I spent my time to go to IALF Jakarta at menara mulya building. Took my ialf test result at 19 of june. Thanks God... Alhamdulillah I got 6 overall ! So cool to bring my kids go there by bus. Then took a lunch at Pasar Festival with live music !

All I do is to write. Repetition will make a perfect result. I want to make a good writing. The only way to make it happen is to practice more and more. Laziness is my number one enemy, but I always did it ! Every body have business and as a teacher I have amount of works to do. Make a lesson plan, prepare a book or modules, make a proposal for mu department, make a proposal for social responsibility activities, facilitate student's apprentice etcetra. I feel it is a difficulties, actually it is a challenge to me ! Beside it, i must have a time, a couple minutes, to arrange an essay about anything. I remember my culture coach at Palmy, Hugh Kemp, as he told us to make daily diary. It is very important to us as language learners.

All good books of writing recommend us to read, read, and read ! WRITE, WRITE, AND WRITE ! to be a good writer ! I consider that speed readingn or skimming is important. Honestly I enjoy slow reading, even others feel that my reading is faster than common people. Right now i read a book found at second book dealer. It is an interesting book written by Stephen Hawking. I appreciated the translation of this book to Bahasa Indonesia is quite good. I think this is a MUST READ book for students in Indonesia, especially for teacher's candidate !

I did the review of portfolio of teachers as required by Act.Assesment for the portfolio done by two assessors which one of both get original document and the other get copy of it. My university as branch 37 of teacher certification institution in Indonesia. We have a job to asses teacher's portfolio. From these material we will know what did teachers do in Indonesia. Many teachers did not have any capability to make a good lesson plan. As I learn from literature about taxonomy bloom, almost all of portfolio showed their instructional design just use lower order thinking grade.

Make a lesson plan is a necessary for teachers. We teachers not only to teach but also to educate people. So, we must prepare well before teaching process. Teaching not only transfer of knowledge, but also to encourage pupil to study hard !

Some of them have no relevant qualification to be teachers. It caused by a loose regulation in public service rules. local autonomy Act in Indonesia open an opportunity for local government to appoint new public servant based on cronies, families and bribes. Completely new science for me. Thanks God ! Alhamdulillah I get a beneficial book about it from the author Mrs Dewi Salma Prawiradilaga. I did not know why she gave her book to me. May be because my book used as example for her explanation about instructional design for distance learning modules.
Mrs Dewi told us to make a good module which contained by materials need to know by readers as a core. Then beside it is should to know materials and nice to know materials.

At this workshop, I met with Abtar Kaur a professor from Open University of Malaysia (OUM) which told me more about making a good Distance Learning Handbook. She gave us some mnemonics lika ABCDS (Audiences, Behavior, Content, Degree, and Situation for performance) to make a good learning outcome.

She described about TASK. Educational achievement that should be gained by learners. They are thinking, attitude, skill and knowledge. Skill and knowledge are the part of cognitive domain and attitude is a part from affective.

She also showed us a clip from a movie about Mr. Jamie Escalante: Stand & Deliver I tried to download it with rapidshare, but unfortunately I can not do that because free user just have a chance to download once for a day. A way Mr Escalante's teaching is very vigour. He represented a teacher as a good role model.

One good role model for instruction is ARCS Model. With this you must grab ATTENTION from your learners. Story telling is very interesting for people. Have you read rider's digest magazine ? The second one is RELEVANT. Make the content relevant for you audiences! Make them CONFIDENT with the materials, add it with facts, analoogies, examples, etcetra. At last give them feeling of SATISFACTION from your instruction.

Gardner Five Minds also suggested by Abtar Kaur as one of teacher's attention before teaching. Those are Discipline, Synthesis, CReative, Respectful and Ethical. If all of our learning and teaching activities contained by these five things, probably we will get a qualified teaching and learning.

Now is the time for industries to persuade people to watch World Cup 2010 Tournament at South Africa. A tournament followed by 32 teams from countries representated from five continents. I saw many merchandises available at Indomaret, a chain of retail group of mini market stores in Indonesia. Television advertising also filled by football and word cup ephoria for many goods and services like hair products and baby milk. I think it is impossible to ignore football at next months in Indonesia. People here like to be popular, speak popular games and feel very awesome to be listened by others to speak about it. For me it is only a game, just a game! just it ! Wiseman said that fanatism will kill you anyway ....!

I am sure that the tournament is important and make money for people around that industries like sports apparatus industries, event organizers, entertainers, etcetra. Look at your television ! many singers and actors speak about football fluently as they are never know about this sport before... Behind them are industries with big capital ! big money ...!

The good one for me from this game is the human resources management and leadership done by coaches. How they make strategies to achieve the goal, and we often saw the lucky opportunities at this game. Fanatism, hooliganism, bonek -ism, jak mania's trouble is not a good things for our next generation.

Many people use World Cup as a way to bet ilegally in Indonesia. As gambling prohibited in Indonesian law, some people still did it ilegally. Football also disrupt kids mentally. My nephew could be used as the sample. His father as a fan of italian football team that always allow his son to watch the game at late night. Today I go to Centre of Jakarta, Cikini Street, to deliver some letters and questionerres from Social Studies Department of Faculty of Education from my university. We will conduct a research about social studies for standardized school at Jakarta. My responsibility is to come to SMPN 1 Jakarta and SMPN 216 at Salemba Street.

I do not really know about the location. I have no Google Earth software installed in my PC. I am googling it by SMP N 1 Jakarta as a clue. Well finally I find it. Then I look for transportation route to this school. transportasi.org give me the way to go there. A blog showed me a document of all public transportation routes which saved at Ziddu website. There is no direct transportation from my place. So, I get a "microlet" numbered by 06 to go straight to Kampung Melayu terminal, I pay 4.000 rupiahs for it from Pasar Rebo crossroad. Then I choose a minibus called as"kopaja" by 502 number with Kampung Melayu to Tanah Abang route. Even tough I live in Jakarta for several years, I still not really understand this part of the city. So in travel, I always look for clues like street landmark, building names, etcetra.

At last I find it, after helped by Ojek (a rented motorcycle) near it. I see the building is so antique, like a gothic building at europe.

his is my first time in my life to be interviewed for a scholarship with government agent. They have to make sure that I appropriate for the program they have. We are in group of twenty one. One person left because he followed a shortcourse about primary school management at China for 12 monts as I did last year. We were come from 11 universities from all around Indonesia like Bengkulu University, Medan State University, Riau University, Padang State University, Manado State University, Yogyakarta State University, Jakarta State University, Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo, UHAMKA university, and Indonesia Education University.

I face two session of interview. one session with two interviewer. First room for administration matter and research proposal at the second room. Interview done by Bahasa Indonesia and English. Managing by staff from Human Resources Directorate, the agenda conducted at Acacia Hotel at Kramat Raya Street at the center part of jakarta.

Today I when to DKI Bank, a regional bank owned by DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. I came together with my wife to sign a credit contract needed for my family and I. The bank located at Kelapa Dua Street, inside Gunadarma University. In the same side with Mako Brimob where former Kabareskrim Komjen Susno Duadji detained. It was a delight journey because I went there with all of my family. My wife as she must sign the contract with me. My four moon son and my daughter which dressed batik style blouse. At eight a.m. we went out from our rented home by foot to Pasar Rebo crossroad. We use public transport numbered with 112 with Kampung Rambutan - Depok route. As usual my first kid feel dizzy during a journey, so my wife ask her to sleep along the route. Thanks God, she did not spit up anything at the moment.

At Gunadarma's DKI Bank I filled out a form to open a bank account for my credit. Then I look for credit officer to sign a debt contract. My credit approved for thirty million rupiah for three years with flatted bank interest. The amount that I can take from these are twenty seven million nine hundred and eighty thausand and eight rupiah. Administrative cost taken for two hundred and fifty thausand rupiah, provision cost (one percentage from the credit), life insurance premium. Beside it, I must left one month installment payment.

There is pus from my toe nails! Doctor and a nurse at my office's medical room. The consequences from my behavior is, I must bandage my toe nail for three or four days without any contact with water.

My department will do a small research to know about social studies learning at several schools at Jakarta. It is good for us because we can describe some opportunities for enhancing social studies matters.

I did some mock test about IELTS from BBC site. I found that my english level stil not so good. At averages. At this time I feel so hard to upgrade my english level because i feel so comfortable to speak with my native language. I have a strong desire to enhance my english capability. May be it is better to me to follow english course like IELTS Preparation Course. BBC website is a good website to upgrade my skill in language as it provides resources for languange skills like reading, speaking, listening and writing. I did the test yesterday but only about half of the test item correct!. I have a friend teach english here at my place. but he do not always speak english with other people. fluently speak indonesian. i suppose he have a good english structure but no in speaking. When I have an english course at udayana university, one of my tutor is a staff of english laboratory who can speak fluently and have a good listening skill as he study english at australia for a moment. to achieve a good level in english probably i will take an english course from ADP or something like that.

my friend a linguistic expert from prominent catholic university in Indonesia got a chance to travel around the world for conferences. she went to turkey this week. like my colleagues from my almamater went to one of asean country as a speaker for a call for paper conference. I think to myself. now with the aid from information and communication technology we can build our capacities as big as we can. think globally act locally as a proverb told.

as a proverb said that we must remember that we stand at a community with certain common shared values and social norms, we must also aware about international issues like climate change, global economic equality gap, politic, shortages of natural resources and so on. Both my friend have a strong will to develop their capability by attending conferences as speaker or attender. i am sure that they both found cultural gap between nation as they came across country. when i taught about curriculum of social sciences education in my class, i told them some thing with a little bit of a mistake. one and two students speak loudly to correct my explanation. i appreciated their shout, while the others just murmured with unclear voices. it is common in your class to have students with no concentration about the class. they were under pressure to follow the lecture. may be they had a bad feeling at that day or did'nt really understand the topics as a whole. At the other side, bright students enjoyed the class just with listening. they did what they want to do but they keep the ear listening the lecturer voices.

i have been teaching for students at higher education in my university. my university is a middle class university at jakarta for its college of education. this college of education mostly attended by girls. i do not know why, but this is common for college of education in Indonesia, or may be at other countries.
the students came for lower and middle class of our society, they are a reflection of struggling middle class society who want to change their life through education. they came from around jakarta province; satellite cities of jakarta like bekasi, tangerang, bogor, depok, karawang; or other provinces like east java, west java, lampung, south sumatra, bangka belitung, central java, etcetra. as i know, the students pictured of education system at the society. they want to success, they need to read books, but they hard to buy some books.
they are mostly muslim with one or two students believe in christ, budhism, or hinduism. its okay to them for study here, even my university associated with secod largest islam organization in Indonesia. we teach sciences, not religion!
while i teach them, mostly ready to listen what i teach to them. like a lecture class style. it is not so surprised to me, they have been taught with that style for years. i want to change their conduct! My lecture began this morning. i changed the seat position to distruct their comfort zone....
I motivated them to think out of box. I inspired by this movie below, to teach them to be different

National Exam

Today Indonesian students from high school held a national exam. People feel it horrible, but for students it like entered the hell. For mem it is necessary for every single person of students to take an exam. There is a standard required to achieve a certain level of education. The problem is, national exam in Indonesia standardized well for all students at all districts in Indonesia. As you know, Indonesia divided into three time zone with different economic degree. Almost 70% of people live at Java island and Sumatra island, West Time Zone of Indonesia. The education system managed well, mostly at Java island. Middle Time Zone and East Time Zone with less people and poor infrastructure for economic and social life. So the education quality is not so good as at West. National Exam still important but it must be managed well in accordance with social condition of our country based on deep research

Technology in Indonesia is growing fastly, mostly for information and communication technology.This matter endorsed by media branding through newpaper, magazines, television stations, radio station, and internet sites. We Indonesian can buy hi-tech mobile phone produced by chinese companies. But we just consumers and users of the product not the developers. Chinese people is a success story from copy-paste generation to be a creator of ICT.

Mass media have a main role for Indonesian people that never hapen before. Facebook being a popular one for interacting among people. I get benefit from that, I can meet my old friends from intermediate school years and friends from my boardingschool,(graduated at 1994) We can do a reunion meeting at 2009, mostly because we interact with e-mail, mailing list, and facebook. The regulation about ICT still questioned, because our government still arranged an Act about it that approved by all of stakeholders.I can not +
imagine how my children will interact with ICT at the future. Now their father strugling to understand about blogging, website development, e-learning, social media networking, microblogging etcetra. Some higher education shared their lectures through internet. I can not imagine also, how our institution, UHAMKA a higher education will be at 2050. If we do not prepare to face the changes at the future, we will be left.

There are problems in Indonesian ICT development, actually in infrastructure gaps between West and East part of Indonesia. Almost all ICT provider based at Jawa island and get profit from ICT enthusiasts here. We Indonesian have PALAPA sattelite for communication through multicast interaction.

Batu akik adalah salahsatu benda yang aku sukai walaupun pada kenyataannya, sampai sekarang tidak pernah bertahan lama di tangan. Alasannya bisa lupa nyimpan habis wudhu, lupa nyimpan saat mo tidur, ketinggalan di kantor, atau di tempat mana aja. Suka tapi kurang telaten menjaganya kali !

Saya tidak percaya akan adanya batu cincin yang memiliki khasiat gaib, kalaupun ada itu adalah suatu persekutuan jahat antara bangsa jin dan manusia yang mempertuhankannya. Indonesia kaya akan berbagai jenis batu-batu perhiasan, di Jawa Barat yang terkenal dengan batu alam adalah di Kabupaten Sukabumi, selain itu berbagai daerah lain di Indonesia mempunyai jenis-jenis batu alam yang indah dan beragam. Menurut blog batu batu akik, batu mulia tersebut juga memiliki nilai arkeologi yang tinggi. Sebagian daripadanya ada yang berumur puluhan ribu tahun.

Pada perjalanan Tutor Kunjung Pertama mahasiswa PJJ PGSD di Kabupaten Sukabumi, kami menginap di Hotel Augusta di pelabuhan Ratu. Tujuan kami adalah untuk mengecek kemungkinan dipergunakannya lokasi tersebut bagi kegiatan perpisahan/inaugurasi atau graduasi bagi mahasiswa program PJJ PGSD FKIP UHAMKA angkatan tahun 2007.2

Pada kesempatan tersebut kami mengunjungi lokasi Sumber Air Panas Alami di Cisolok yang berasal dari sumber air mineral yang keluar dari bumi secara alami. Pemandangan yang mirip, dengan derajat yang berbeda, dengan pemandangan di Taupo. dan Rotorua, di Pulau sebelah Utara dari Selandia Baru yang saya kunjungi sekitar enam bulan yang lalu. Puncak well known as a place for Jakartan villas. It is a place surrounded with tea plantation owned by government of Indonesian Republic. many motorist groups done a touring journey to Puncak to test the performance of the group's members. If you are a young Jakartan just owned a motorcycle, your mates will requested you to bring a tea leaf from Puncak as a prove for your brave in driving a motorcycle. This route also used as a way to go to Bandung and Cianjur. Before Cipularang Highway designed, people used this unstraight street to go to Bandung, a Paris van Java City. We members of FKIP UHAMKA staff took an advantages to go to Puncak for a family gathering agenda held by management of faculty.
We came with 58 families stayed at Safari Hotel and Restaurant, an acommodation utility owned by Taman Safari, a famous Zoo provider in Indonesia. There were attraction with animals performed here like bird, leopard, elephant and tiger. Then we went to Taman Wisata Matahari, a park for water based entertainment and some edutainment places. I think this place unmanaged well, many people asked us to rent floor mat from them. This is annoying for us. For a natural park, Taman Wisata Matahari didn't show their respect for eco-based management. They just sold a nature but don't keep it clean and many people crowded just for money respect only, no respect for next generation nature and education.
We came from lower and middle class people of Jakartan, some of us never sleep at hotel before. This first experiment give a confused for event organizer. A good experiences to know about people beside our working places and their family

I just arrived from a long journey from three places at the remote are of Jakarta. Firstly, at Saturday 6 of March, 2010 we went to Ciangsana Bogor, at primary School SD Ciangsana IV. This school near from PILAR School, a private school owned by President's family. The school had a good facility as it is an international school with foreign language learned there. My friends and I, came to SD Ciangsana IV to meet with our students from Hybrid Learning System with HYLITE System. At 7 of March we went to meet students from Lebak and Pandeglang at SD Karangtanjung Pandeglang. Our last destination was March 9, 2010 to Sukabumi at SDN CBM Kota Sukabumi. We visited Pelabuhanratu to observe the places for outbond agenda of students. We stayed at AUGUSTA Hotel. for a night, then we went to a natural hot water resources at Cipanas Pelabuhan Ratu. Along the ways we met with Ojek (motor rental) who will bring people to Mak Erot the legend for "vital tool enlargement".

My wife, my son, my daughter and my sister went to Cibiru, Cipongkor, Bandung Barat this morning. They went to Bandung by bus after waiting for so long time at shadow terminal of Rambutan Terminal (bus station) They will meet with another big family of my parent. The big family felt happy these days because we got a new member of family. My older sister at Cibeureum, near Citalem had a baby, a boy baby. My daughter felt very keen to go to her grandparent home because she will meet her families with the same age with her, Dias my niece. This is also the first time for my second children to go to Cibiru, a place where his father was born. So, I feel lonely now at my home. I will come to my hometown at Saturday or Sunday. I feel a little homesick with this village. Soon, there will be a reuni gathering of Students of SMPN 1 Cililin (Public Intermediate School) of my year (1986 - 1989). It will be a great day for us.

My parent and my eldest sister were not home since Tuesday. They made a religious travelling to East Java with a famous "ajengan" at my district. They visited prominent islamic taught boardingschool and Islamic figures cemetery, like Gus Dur, until Madura island. It is common for muslim in Indonesia to give a pray for teachers who spreads Islamic taught at the past. When they come back at Saturday, they will surprised by the welcoming greeting from my family from Jakarta

UKI Street prohibited from being a shadow terminal, now people seek for alternatives. Why they did not use formal terminal (bus station) ? This was a common problem for us, citizen of Jakarta. Jakarta known as a big city with largest population among cities in Indonesia. Around Jakarta there were satellite cities like Depok, Bekasi, Bogor, Bogor, Tangerang, Kerawang etcetra. Some workers at Jakarta come from those cities, blue collars or white collars workers. They commute periodically with privat or public vehicles. They need a comfort journey. Time is very important for them. This morning there are jus a fiew buses and fiew passenger's candidate along the street. But in the afternoon it will become a shadow terminal and no policemen there! If there were policemen, drivers obey the regulation and when the policemen take a rest, streets become a free place for every people

Rambutan Terminal located at a corner of East Jakarta. People prefer to get a bus outside of this terminal because:

The security of terminal stil questionable. We still heared criminal cases conducted at terminal like pickpocket, hypnosis for crimes, thief, robbery, unfriendly street singers, unfriendly middlemen or "calo" and a lot of street trader. We still feel unsecure at the terminal.
The Staff at terminal took retribution tarrif for passenger before entering the terminal. The tarrif higher than normal tarrif as regulated by local government. The Police, DLLAJR staff, Driver and his helper, alltogether work cooperatively for their destiny. We smelt a corruption weather here!. Homo Homini lupus

When I went to UNS Solo, from Sunday evening until Wednesday morning, I felt like at Yogyakarta at 2001. There are many simple buildings rented for students around of Kentingan Campus of UNS. Amazingly! there was a lot of hotspot area at UNS and around of campus. I found many restaurant and café with free wireless internet connection with competitive prices. I saw a student’s dormitory at Kentingan but we students from Association of Social Studies Department Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. Hamka rented a home of Pak Soemanto at RT02/22 Ngoresan Village. Food here cheaper than at Jakarta.

We did Outing Class by visiting Association of Social Studies Department Students of Sebelas Maret University to know about the academic content and student’s activities at the same level. There was a lot of motorcycles at Solo run fastly, but public transport (Angkota) run slowly like Javanese proverb “alon-alon asal kelakon”.

Its name is Viper The Anti Plagiarism Scanner. First of all, you add your documents to scan; then you can scan against files in your computer and at last scan the internet for plagiarism. You need internet connection to use this tool. You have to register your username by viper site, so they will send your password to your e-mail account

The weather in Palmerston North and New Zealand changes day by day. But the change also happens at the same day. We often feel sun shine in the morning, it’s cloudy at noon and it rains in the evening or the sun comes back again. To live here, people should be prepared every thing based on the weather. My host family told me that it happens in spring. Summer will be come sunny and we will have colourful lives. In contrast, Indonesia, a big country with huge population, has a lot of cultures with hot weather more often than dry season. Climate change affects seasonal cycles in the world as I felt in my country.

Jane explained about DEEP program to us. With DEEP (Direct Entry English Pathway), we can study in Massey without the IELTS test. DEEP runs for 17 weeks before entering postgraduate study. Students in the College of Education must have band 7 of IELTS score. Indonesia had some IELTS test places. If we took the IELTS test in Indonesia, we should come to those places and pay the cost of the test. It should be better if we can increase our English level during our short course here. So, when we attend an IELTS test, our score would be better than before.

I slept in a backpacker’s lodge in Wellington, Ex-base Backpacker. Wellington was an unique city in front of the sea and hills; a city with combined old tradition and new modernism. I saw old buildings and new buildings here. I saw a traffic jam on the streets. People went and came to and from places. Shops sold services and goods. They were preparing for end of the year sales. It is a big city with a big problem for government. While I walked through streets there, I saw a homeless man sleeping on the street. He used crumpled and soiled clothes with dirty blanket. This is a problem for city council of Wellington. I thought every big city faced social problem as experts called it “social pathology”.

Victoria University had a nice building. I heard from the Indonesian Nite announcer that this university had a partnership agreement with USU University in Indonesia. Beside it, there was a huge building with unique architecture Parliament Building of New Zealand State. It look like Beehive. My host mother told me that at certain times people are allowed to go in for tourism destination. We traced the streets of Wellington from 08.00 a.m. untul 03.30 p.m. Our last destination was the bus and railway station. We booked the tickets online by internet connection. My friends and I came back home by (Tranzit Inter City) bus.

On Monday we had a class with Vijaya Charant and Penny Haworth. They described Quality Teaching for Diverse Students; Inclusive Education. From this class we know that inclusive education is supported by government and community. As a small country with a small population, New Zealand is always ready to handle immigration problems. Penny had been teaching refugees for years with ADL programme. Vijaya talked about inclusive education historically. She prepared the presentation well. She spoke English pretty well with an Indian accent, short sentences and fast words.

We have been here for four weeks. The schedule changed. We Indonesian teachers educators had a challenging task from the teachers. We are obliged to do a small research project which will be presented in week 6. in this week we had a lot of time to increase our English capability and vacant time for self needs. The day before yesterday my friends and I went to Recreational Centre. We played badminton here after we had booked the place. I felt a little embarrassed with our attitudes on the ground. We showed our happiness and spirit by making a loud shout. At that moment, people looked at us and some of them shook their head from left to right as a sign of refusal to listen to our cry. We came from different cities and different habits.

On Monday 19 we had a class with Vijaya Charant and Penny Haworth. Vijaya was born in India. She showed her expertise by guiding us about grand design of inclusive education in New Zealand. Penny looked a humble person. She laughed and sang during her presentation. She was a kind of third culture kid: experienced with different cultures and easy moved between countries. On Wednesday, the teachers debriefed us about the tasks. Then, Phil showed resources on key websites. It’s important for us because we could download and learn new things for our teaching and learning. There was free choices time in the afternoon provided by Phil for us: searching research topic, recreational activities and observation at CUPELS afternoon class.

I had a great class with Gary Punler. He asked us a lot of questions. He is a principal of a primary school. We were questioned by ‘what is the difference between western/eastern educational systems?” a challenging question. Philosophically, he said, the differences came from asking question skills. Friends of mine replied that the main point was from culture. I did’nt think so, because culture was not a stagnant thing. It changes depending on human and other factors.

I agreed with him about reflective thinking. Students should know how they did and how to make thing better. It came from questioning. Questions are done to encourage the progress the progress of someone skill. A teacher trainee should know what does he/she want and how to achieve it. Reflection continued with collaboration. “Collaborative” means that all have a duty and responsibility for the aim. Based on my experience, students are used to studying by instruction/lecturing. So, it was hard to speak about their thinking.

Yesterday we had a class with Valerie. She was an expert of parent – school relationship. The good relation between school, students and parents happened by triangle relationship. It is built by intensive relationship through media like newletters, e-mail, leaflet, and so on.

Parents should know real life in school, help school and participate in school’s activity at the school or at home. Parents should know the truancy level of the class, school’s decile, and school agenda for his/her son or daughter.

Homework Procedures and Guidelines of St. James Catholic School showed a partnership relation between students, parents, and school. Homework done by students was contentious. Students some times come across the solution that never discovered at the class. To take it on board, parents had to be ready with time to do homework together with students.

Valerie gave us some papers as resources. I knew she had to prepare the presentation perfectly. To be honest, our school in Indonesia rarely did what St. James does. New innovation is found to make a better class.

The Recreation Centre is provided by Massey University for students here. As temporary students, we have a right to use the facility here. It’s better to book the place before, because many students want to do sport there. Booking can be done by phone. At the end of semester, many students face examinations or tasks for their paper. So, the Recreation Centre at the time we came was available for Badminton.

We played badminton, a second popular sport in Indonesia after football. The Recreation Centre became our comfort zone. We laughed and cried loudly. Some people looked at us strangely. I felt a little embarrassed. We used to play sport in open area. Some friends played table tennis, basket ball and billiards.

Tradition, Culture and Postmodernism

We Indonesian have varied goods as cultural heritage from our ancestor. We are a big country with a lot of ethnicities live here. When I talked to New Zealander (Kiwi) about our languages, they absolutely amazed by hundreds of languages in Indonesia. Not just dialects from Indonesian language. But because there was no good political will from our government those languages became extinct. We spoke proudly national language and international language, but not local language. May be at 2020 in Indonesia, we will just have only 5 or 10 local languages from hundreds existed languages. I think what Kiwi done with Maori Language is very good. They made it as second national language at New Zealand, and implement it in educational system.

Indonesia have local autonomy policy. So, kabupaten or kota can adopt something like that. Make local/native language as shool's language, used at formal occasion. poor educational system will come from:
1. The educational system which ignored society's development.
2. the teachers who still used conventional resurces, result oriented, bad or uninterested learning resources, mono tone learning style, dreadful learning environment, there is a prostitution of intellectual, and another non humanistic behavior.
3. The learners just care about their grade, their certificate, their aim to be public servant, afraid to jump from their comfort zone, doesn't exactly know why they learn and the reality abut science.
4. Unfair bureaucracy of education, event they are professors, experts, and leader of educational institution.
5. Leadership without a great vision about the future of education.
6. Ignoring something important for the big changes at the future like, integrity, commitment, discipline, loyality and so on

My Pedagogic Creeds from John Dewey at 1897, still exist and relevant until now. School must be a part of society. I read it from Sage Publication book printed at 2006, Critical Issues in Education: An Anthology of Reading. School as a part of community. Teachers must facilitate students to learn about social life.

I remember my last teachers at Islamic Boarding School done. They made an Islamic boarding school as miniature of society. We students prepared to be survive at the society. We learn 24 hours in a day. Every aspect of boarding school life is an education. Nobody can escape from rules conducted here. The strict rules must be conducted for us as teenagers at sex separated boarding school. We live together at a big room with 20 - 40 students each. We are learn to be a cadre of ummah, cadre of nation. We educated like spartan did. Many activities can be choosen by students here, depend on our interest. Sports,Craft, Arts, Computer, Scientific Research, Journalism etcetra.

Years after graduated from boarding school, I found my self work at university. My friends have varies job like traders, chef, bussiness men, travel agent, Writers, ustadz, lecturer, political party activist, lawyer, artist, event organizer, etcetra. That is the results from a system that give a strong spirit to their students to spread Islamic values whenever and whereever you are. Bagaimana membentuk anak tidak mencontek saat ujian, kalau saja para mahasiswa calon guru, yang nanti akan mendidik mereka, mencontek saat Ujian di College of Education! Itulah cikal bakal munculnya kecurangan-kecurangan besar yang terjadi pada bangsa kita. Dosen membiarkan mahasiswanya mencontek, ketika mahasiswa itu menjadi guru, ia "tidak tega" untuk menindak anak yang mencontek.

Hal itu didukung pula oleh sistem pendidikan kita yang hanya berorientasi pada angka-angka. Kita, bangsa ini, terbiasa mendidik anak dengan tujuan akhir pada nilai-nilai angka. Sehingga peserta didik akan berupaya keras mencapai angka-angka tersebut, dengan cara yang jujur maupun tidak jujur. Guru atau dosen, kadangkala, mengajar dengan mengutamakan aspek kognitif semata. Dengan demikian, kalau kecerdasan kognitif tercapai berupa nilai angka-angka, maka akan puas-lah mereka. Padahal, yang terpenting adalah bagaimana Pendidikan Moral atau Akhlak pada mereka (guru atau mahasiswa).

Salah seorang pembicara dari Seminar Satu Abad Pendidikan Muhammadiyah adalah Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo. Menurut pandangan saya, beliau sangat inspiratif dalam menyampaikan makalahnya tentang Pendidikan Holistik.Pertama kali, beliau mengkritik sistem pendidikan yang berlaku di negara kita, terutama sifat dikotomis-nya antara ilmu agama dan ilmu umum. Sehingga terjadilah pemisahan paradigma berfikir antara mereka yang belajar ilmu agama, dan yang belajar ilmu umum. Pertanyaan beliau adalah mengapa orang belajar agama dibatasi pada aqidah, ibadah, akhlak tasawwuf, fikih, tarikh dan sejenisnya. Mengapa agama dikotak-kotakkan pada definisi tersebut? Siapa yang pertama kali memisah-misahkan agama Islam seperti itu? Salahsatu hasil tafakkur beliau adalah urutan surat-surat Al Qur'an. Untuk membentuk manusia diperlukan sifat Rahman Rahim, seperti tertera dalam Al Fatihah. kemudian pada Surat Al Baqarah disampaikan jenis-jenis manusia. Singkat kata hanya ada tiga, mu'minun, kafirun dan munafiqun (GakJela antara keduanya. Sayangnya kebanyakan manusia ada pada posisi ini. Makanya kalau ingat sapi betina (Al BAqarah), harus ingat akan "ngeyel"nya kaum Yahudi ketika diperintahkan oleh Nabi untuk menyembelih Sapi Betina. Banyak bertanya dengan maksud agar yang memberi tugas lupa akan tugas yang diberikan. Sungguh annoying!. Namun untuk membentuk seorang mukmin harus ada fondasinya, yaitu keluarga:Al Qur'an menggambarkan keluarga yang indah pada Surat ALI IMRAAN. keluarga yang baik akan memperoleh hasil pendidikan yang baik apabila mampu mengelola keluarga yang baik. keluarga yang baik ada pada wanita (istri) yang baik. Muncul bahasan tentang isteri pada surat AN NISAA. para isteri harus mampu bahu membahu dengan para bapak menyediakan hidangan yang halalan thoyyiban mubarokan pada masing-masing rumah tangga. Untuk mendobrak tradisi tersebut, maka harus kembali kepada agama Islam dipahami BUKAN sebagai agama semata, tetapi memahami agama Islam sebagai agama dan juga peradaban. beliau bertafakkur tentang urutan - urutan surat yang disusun sekarang
Telah menerapkan pendidikan holistik di UIN Malang. Reformasi pertama yang dilaksanakan beliau adalah mewajibkan bahasa Arab dipelajari pada tahun pertama kuliah mahasiswa, pada saat menjabat di FAI UM Malang. Reformasi kedua yang dilakukan adalah mewajibkan bahasa Arab pda tahun pertama kuliah, di kampus UIN Malang, Dan ternyata ini berhasil, banyak mahasiswa yang hafal Qur'an dan mampu bercakap-cakap dalam bahasa Arab. Hari ini Jum'at 29 January 2010 merupakan hari bersejarah bagi para guru di Jakarta yang lulus Program Sertifikasi Guru melalui jalur portofolio via UHAMKA. Mereka akan memperoleh sertifikat profesional guru dari Pemerintah yang sebelumnya telah diperiksa oleh Asesor dari Dosen-dosen Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Jakarta. Jumlah peserta yang lulus sekitar 2.300 an dari sekitar 5.000 an lebih berkas yang diperiksa oleh Asesor. ASesor berasal dari Dosen UHAMKA, Dosen Universitas Islam Syeh Yusuf TAngerang, dan dari unsur LPMP DKI Jakarta.

Mudah-mudahan dengan diberikannya sertifikat guru profesional. Para guru tersebut terpicu untuk mendidik dengan lebih baik dari sebelumnya. Jangan lagi ada cerita guru yang memiliki sertifikat guru profesional, tetapi cara dan sumber belajarnya masih kuno, dan tidak mau belajar untuk lebih baik. Matakuliah ini merupakan matakuliah wajib di Jurusan Pendidikan IPS. I got an experiences in Islamic Centre of Manawatu at Palmerston North, New Zealand. I did a short course about education system funded by Indonesian Government Ministry of Education. I did it for 12 weeks. The leader, imam, always praying sunnah (not compulsory praying) by sitting on a chair. So, I think about my past when I studied Islam at Islamic Boarding School.... I thought that I could do that.... I felt a lot of curiousity about it. Because we life at an open information society, so I open Uncle Google and type : Sholat sunat sambil duduk (praying sunnah pray by sitting). He directed me to percikaniman.org. A site owned by Percikan Iman Magazine, an Islamic magazine published at Bandung Indonesia. I think this magazine brought an inspiration and ideas about Islam as taught by Persatuan Islam Organization. A reformist movement from Indonesia.

An ustadz, a religion scholar, from Percikan Iman; Aam Amirudin said that we can do that as he cited a valid (shahih) hadits from All prominent Hadits Scholars except Muslim (Jama'ah. Pengalaman waktu Sholat di Manawatu Islamic Centre,- kebetulan memperoleh kesempatan untuk menerawang sistem pendidikan dasar selama 3 bula di Selandia Baru dari September sampai Desember 2009 - Imamnya selalu sholat sunat sambil duduk di kursi lipat. Ane jadi berpikir... menerawang masa lalu waktu belajar tentang kaifiyyatu sholat... Perasaan memang boleh dilaksanakan. Mumpung lagi jaman gampang informasi, ane ketik di Google: Sholat sunat sambil duduk. Mang Google mengarahkan ane ke situsnya Percikan Iman di percikaniman.org.Menurut keterangan ustadz Aam Amirudin, kita dibolehkan untuk sholat sunat sambil duduk atau berbaring, walaupun kita mampu melakukannya sambil berdiri. Namun pahalanya berkurang dibanding dengan melaksanakannya sambil duduk.

Keterangan ini didukung oleh Hadits Shahih sebagai berikut :
“Imran bin Hushain pernah bertanya kepada Nabi saw. tentang shalat seseorang sambil duduk. Nabi saw menjawab,“Shalat sambil berdiri itu lebih baik. Siapa yang shalat sambil duduk, ia mendapatkan pahala setengah dari orang yang shalat sambil berdiri. Siapa yang shalat sambil berbaring, pahalanya setengah dari yang duduk.” (HR. Al-Jamaah kecuali Muslim).

Tapi ingat, ini hanya berlaku bagi sholat sunat saja!

Ide yang menarik juga tuh. Berikut ini adalah kutipan dari surat kabar KORAN TEMPO edisi Sabtu, 26 Desember 2009.

Walaupun ada beberapa kerjaan yang harus dilakukan:
1. Komputer memiliki hardware : prosesor, system operasi, RAM, hardisk minimal 80 GB biar koleksi lagu lebih banyak.
2. Pengeras suara. Bias juga menggunakan hi-fi audio yang memiliki colokan untuk pemutar multimedia (music port).
3. Soundcard. Kalau terlalu tua, ganti dengan soundcard yang mendukung suara surround 7.1 saluran. Misalnya Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic dari Creative. Soundcard ini juga mendukung port headphone, dan playback MP3 yang sudah ditingkatkan. Cara memasangnya juga mudah, tinggal cabut soundcard lama, ganti dengan yang baru, hubungkan kabel listrik ke sumber listrik di PC dan nyalakan lagi computer. Setelah itu, install soundcard dari cakram padat yang disediakan di kemasan.
4. Kalau sound di PC sudah onboard, non aktifkan di BIOS sebelum menginstal yang baru.
5. Software menggunakan Apple ITunes 6. Yang bias diunduh secara gratis di internet.
6. Atau bias juga menggantikannya dengan Windows Media Player 11, MTV Urge, Napster, Rhapsody 3, atau eMusic.
7. Koneksi internet: untuk mengunduh berbagai software diatas.

My Diary at Palmerston North

This is my first Tuesday in Massey University!. When Hugh told us to write a journal diary every night, I felt so happy. I know my weakness in English is writing is writing (and listening too!). I need a new change in my way to study English because I am not a language lecturer. I am a lecturer in social studies education especially Economics Education in my university.

Today I took a bus alone. My mother gives me complete directions. Even though Phill gave us our individual map, my mom still worries about me getting lost here. But it is all right, I can reach the Main Terminal in Main Street and meet my mates there.

Hugh encouraged us to be brave and active in language study. Should ask and ask every thing to practice our listening. In my opinion, reading The Dominion Post, a newspaper available free here on the campus is necessary to improve my vocabulary.

Dr. John Clark, an Associate Professor, explained The NZ’s educational system briefly, This class was held after Hugh’s class. I think this system is arranged by highly academic people, who arrange a whole system completely. Compared to The Indonesian System that is still under construction with changes made by every Minister of Education, Education System here looks more stable. But I guess that now, we Indonesian have a good educational framework. It was done after a political change from Soeharto’s regime in 1999.

We almost missed the bus to The Main Campus (number 12). We wxcited with John’s speech but The Indonesian Ambassador, Amris Hassan, MA and The Pro-vice Chancellor were waiting for us to make an official greeting. After the meeting, Phill showed us the Main Campus facilities and guided us to open a bank account there. This was my first Tuesday at Palmy !

Wednesday was a sunny day in the beginning. I felt good because my body was acclimatizing with this weather. Some of us opened their jackets in class and just used a t shirt. Of course they do that because class has a heater tool.

Hugh continued his lesson about learning English. It’s important for me, because I am not an English speaking person even though I had studied English for years. He told us about language learner should to have an open mind. At that time he asked us to read a presentation titled: An introduction to Education in New Zealand.

Every body read pieces of those handouts and then Hugh corrected our spelling directly. Before this, Hugh and Kay explained to us about Educational System in New Zealand. It was quite useful to us because we can know deeply about some of terms or new vocabularies about The New Zealand Educational System. I can pick up similarities there. A high class school required more money from the students. It is happening in Indonesia. We parents are asked to pay some money, that’s called as “donation” here.

Dodi explained to us about the home stay contract then, I understand it because he told with Indonesian. Then we went to The Library of Hokowhitu Campus of Massey University. Barbara, a staff member here, guided us through the content of this place.

I realize that New Zealand is a place for people from many countries. Barbara came from South Africa, On the bus I met some students from Korea, Japan, Africa, China and Middle East.

Here in New Zealand, a Kiwi Country, Phil told us some accent and words of English in Kiwi’s way. It was interesting for us because we did not know it before. It was interesting!

Palmerston North in the morning is so quiet but actually the activities have already started. My host father woke up at three thirty. He went to work at four a.m. Like some parts of Jakarta, birds sing in the morning. While I walked to the Bus Stop Station some neighbours of my host family arrived and left home.

I always meet some one at the bus stop. An old man carries a hand bag from the video rental. He probably works there. When I said “Hi!” to him, he just looked at me. In some minutes after, he asked me a question. ”How old are you?” . I replied: “I am 35”. He nodded his head to me. I think to my self may be he thought that I look younger than him.

In class, Hugh taught us about some new vocabulary and language lessons from our essays. We Indonesian have at least three languages: native language, national language and international language. So, to study English for us is to make change of mindset. Even though we have studied English from secondary school, we still not good English speakers.

Class finished at twelve, we went to the Main Campus to have lunch there. The cafeteria was clean and it provided us with boiled water and an Oven to heat our food. Then we went to The National Bank branch, to sign an Account Opening Agreement. Some of us put money in our new bank accounts to make us safe in the city.

We met some Indonesian students on the Turitea campus. Radit, Aulia, Putri and Rendi. They were very kind to us. Aulia or Ape (his nickname) talked about some tips to live here. We went to The Islamic Center in this place to do praying Dzuhur. Then Ape accompanied us to Downtown and showed us Second Hand Shops, a souvenir shop and movie theatre here,

I have been in Palmerston North for a week. I felt different weather here. In Indonesia the same place to feel this weather could be on the top of a mountain. It’s windy and cold.

In my stay here, I want to improve my English. My IELTS score for overall is 5.5. May be after this course it could be increased to 6.5 or 7. I think I should study hard to get a new ban, because English is my third language after Sundanese and Bahasa Indonesia.

I teach Social Studies in Teacher’s College in my country. So, I want to know deeply about the Social Studies Curriculum and other things around it. A lecturer said about integrated lessons in the class. In the next days, I want to explore techniques and strategies of integrating some lessons in a class.

Beside teaching, I am responsible for e-learning management in my university. We use MOODLE software to build an e-learning environment. I heard that Massey University uses WebCT for learning management system software. I really want to know, how WebCT is managed and some features of it.

I have got a Master Degree in Social Studies in Yogyakarta State University. Now I look for opportunities to continue my study here. I am interested in Sociology of Education too, especially in society’s change caused by educational system change. Also, I still want to learn about my opportunity to study here next semester or next year.

This Monday was a felt very cold. I wore thin trousers from my country. Even if I can protect my body, my feet were not protected. At the bus stop in the city I met Steve, my mate from Manado. He felt cold too. I heard from the news on the T.V. that the temperature was 4 degrees celcius in the morning. There is still a lot of snow in the North Island of New Zealand.

The Guest Lecturer today was Dr. Margaret Walshaw. She presented a theme “Evidence based teaching strategies (based on case study from a math’s class)”. She is an expert on curriculum and mathematics. In Indonesia, math is a quite difficult lesson for students. Margaret told us, how to make a good practice in Math’s teaching. There are ten fundamental principles / cornerstones for Math’s class. She told us about Math’s Head Department in the school. Indonesia Education System hasn’t got this position, only just for high school class.

After the lecture, we took a photo with Margareth. Some friends from Mathematics Department asked for her e-mail address and her office phone number to discuss some are of maths.

Then, we went into the City. We went to some shops to explore new experiences there. Some interesting shops for us are cash Converter, $ 2 shop, Chinese Shop, and Dick & Smith Electronics.

Yesterday, we went to Nga Manu to see special animals and plants of New Zealand. We were accompanied by our teachers, Hugh and Kay. We saw the national treasures of New Zealand. Bob guided us with an explanation about Kiwi and Tuatara. Kiwi is a nocturnal animal. So, when we went to his cage, we couldn’t see him in the dark room. Kiwi’s egg is big for her body shape. Kiwi eats some insects.

Tuatara was another special animal we found here. It is related to dinosaurs which are already extinct. Tuatara is like a lizard but has some unique characteristics. He could reach a good age until one hundred and eight years.

When we did bush walks, we were really happy to know how people protect the environment. We Indonesians had a lot of bushes, jungles, and forests. But we didn’t protect them as well as here. We burned the forests for making a farm or a field. Some people like environmentalists and farmers are aware about how to take care the environment. But most of farmers and villagers just think only for their daily needs.

Bob showed us amazing creatures, giant eels. Black eels come from other places around New Zealand. He fed the Eels with chicken and another food.

We got many photographs during this trip. A kind of narcism we did. One day we will see this beautiful scenery again or never at all.

Wednesday gave me a different experience. I could not find my ID card. The ID is Massey’s Temporary Student. I am worried about it and searched for it in every place in my room. Desperately I counted my coins to pay the bus fare. The money was enough for it. But when I opened my cell phone, fortunately the card was inside its glove. As a result of my careless, I had to wait a long time for the next bus coming to the Main Terminal.
When I arrived at class, they had just been dismissed. I follow them to CUPEL’s Staff Room. We had a morning tea with the staff there. There was a lot of talking. Our guest lecturer, David had an Australian accent but we quite understood what he was talking about. Clearly he described New Zealand Curriculum briefly. There were a lot of questions, but David always consistent with his lecture’s theme. So, not all questions were answered. He did not answer questions about practices in the Curriculum.

A Potluck Tea was held at The Rugby Institute. I came late to the potluck because my host was not good at map reading and not a good driver. After an accident in which her hand was broken, she didn’t drive for eight months. So, she rang Jenny to guide the way to the location.

I tasted varieties of food there. I didn’t eat too much because I worried about my stomach. It was a nice party and we had nice games. We learn Kiwis culture with multicultural dishes.

Yesterday I was not late again. I found the bus at the right time. I met my friends at the Square and went together to Massey University at Hokowhitu. That day we had a class with a lecture from Primary School teacher, Andrew Salisbury. Before it, Hugh told us new vocabulary; that is mnemonic. Mnemonic was a way to memorise easily by making an acronym of the words, sentences, or concepts. To make a good goal, we have to be SMART: Specific/Simple, Memorable, and Attainable/Achievable, Result oriented, and Time bound.

Andrew told us about the New Zealand Curriculum. He talked about The Whariki concept, Vygotsky’s social constructivism, Zone of Proximal Development, key competencies, environment, scaffolding and so on. It’s quite interesting because he was a practitioner who did it in his class. He knew the concepts and is capable of implementing them.

Phil came after lunch. He asked us about our feeling in the class and in the home stay. He described some agenda for next days. Cendra would told us about the Indonesian Nite at Indonesian Embassy in Wellington. Then we went back home. Before that we spread around the shops in the city, buying some things or just looking.

Yesterday was the beginning of last term for New Zealand’s Schools. I found a new experience during my journey. Buses contained many students. New Zealand schooling has 4 terms. Every term has 10 weeks on average. The students use different uniforms. Some of them look like Harry Potter’s uniform. They spoke Kiwi English very well. I did listen ti their speaking during my trip home. I quite understand some words and lost some words. Even they spoke fast with short sentences. I saw different ethnicities of students. Citizens of Palmerston North came from all over the world. They studied here to gain a prospective future with New Zealand Curriculum System.

Jan Chapman continued the lectures by describing Classroom Management in New Zealand. New Zealand’s Classroom Management takes from experiences of New Zealanders and their cultural heritage; British System of classroom management hundreds years ago. It’s different to Indonesia which establishes consistent classroom management just from 1970s.

The class listened to Jan’s description carefully. Some practices were quite new for Indonesian classroom management. Jane gave us group discussion session during lectures by dividing us randomly using numbered cards. I did not understand some words from Jan’s presentation. I hoped to know it by asking Hugh or checking my dictionary.

Higher Education Directorate of Ministry of Education asked us for a first week report. I did the report after the class was dismissed. I got resources from my notes and my papers collected from lecturers. I have not finished my report yet. I will continue it in the classroom because some important points could be found at New Zealand Curriculum book.

Dr. Seuss books are popular books for story telling. Hugh taught us how to study English rhymes with one of his books. We were excited to know that. Our language has different rhymes in it. Phil continued the class by some announcements about our program. He gave us papers to send to our home stay in case they did not open their e – mail.

On Friday night, Ridwan sent me text about going to Islamic Centre on Saturday afternoon. There was an invitation from the Manawatu Islamic Centre on Cook Street to have a barbeque party. Suhendra’s host kindly brought a minivan car to take all friends at Amberley Ave with his van. We met some brothers and sisters from Asia, Africa, Europe, and New Zealand. After praying Dzuhur, one of the Islamic Centre staff announced that the agenda was postponed to next week because the weather was not good. That’s not a good news, but after that, Anti, Suhendra’s host invited us to her house.

In a group of eight we went to her house. We stopped at Moshims Shop to buy some meat and other things. Moshims shop was a chain store provided halal food fpr muslim in Palmerston North. We held a party here with Latif, Anti’s son. Latif’s sons and daughters were also invited to this party. This family are New Zealander, but they were previously from Fiji but their first country was India.

On October 19 afternoon we had a class with Bobbi Hunter, a lecturer of Massey University at Auckland. She brought us to an interesting discussion about co-operative grouping: theory and practice. There is a lot of grouping in New Zealand Classes.

Grouping is used in NZ’s classes almost in every activity. Teachers had to observe student’s ability and attitude before grouping is conducted. Different goals need use different groupings. I felt to be a good teacher here, I should think deeply about my lesson plan before the class began. Certain subjects are better explained to a class as a whole group and certain tasks referred to be done individually.

Co-operative learning by grouping could generate student skills: leadership, negotiation, thinking, mental skill, describing, speaking and so on. A teacher at Tiritia School said that teachers must know what students want and think! With this condition, teachers and students enjoyed the class and had right aims.

Friday morning we visited Tiritia school by bus. It is located near Massey Universiity. Glenys Edmonds, the principal, welcomed us with open arms. As told by Phil, the school was preparing for their Annual Lamb, Calf, and Pet Day on next Saturday. We found grouping conducted in all classes.

Some students made creative cakes with ornaments. At year 1 and year 2 classes a teacher and three parents helped students to color the drawing of Gingerbread Man. Class fulfilled by students creation and learning resources. The shape and condition of the classes were more casual than we had in Indonesia. Social skill were taught well here. Students replied to our questions confidently. Mrs Edmonds described the school management of this deciles 10 school after our observation.

Hasan Al Banna The Real Syahid

His real name is Hasan Ahmad Abdurrahman Al Banna, he was born in Mahmudiyyah village, district of Buhairah, Egypt at October 14, 1906. His father, Syeikh As Sa'ati, was a scholar of ulumul hadits who wrote "Al Fath Robbani fi tartib Musnad Al Imam Ahmad".

He became hafidz (memorize all verses of ) Al Qur'an at 12th of his age. Studied at Dar Al Ulum University at 1923 and graduated at 1927.
He had a strong will to preach Islamic thought (dakwah) since graduated from the university. Preach for Islam in some places and at last he settled at Ismailiyyah district. With a group of six of his friends he founded an organization called Ikhwanul Muslimin. The aims of the foundation of this organization is to thaught Islam as mentioned in Al Qur'an and Al Hadits Sahih; the effect of sufism and thariqat's movement and leading politic ideology.
He known as a low profile person, very strong memory, always work hard and never feel tired; love others and kind and gentle; always smiling; brave; and never left night's prayer (qiyamul lail).
He wrote some books like " Mudzakiraat ad Duat wa Daiyah" (A Note for Preachs and Preachers) and "Ar Rasail" (The Letters).
His litle book called Al Ma'tsurat was a popular book among PKS or KAMMI activists in Indonesia. Some scholars critisized this book because some "doa" or "wirid" have not any "dalil(explanation/proof)" from Al Qur'an and As Sunnah. Some of wirid have a Sahih level at lafadz criterium but characterized as bid'ah from kaifiyyah's view. The sum of wirid have no example from Rasulullah SAW.
Ihsan bin Ayisy Al Utaibi said that Doa Rabithah, "Allahumma innaka ta'lamu anna hadzihil qulub qad ijtama'at 'ala mahabbatika wal taqat 'ala tha'atika wa tawahhadat 'ala da'watika wa taahhadat 'ala nushrati shari'atika fawatsiq Allahumma rabbithha wa addim wuddaha"
which always recited after meeting called as bid'ah sufiyyah originated from tarekat Hashofiyyah. A kind of tharekat in Egypt followed by Al Banna since he young.
So, the ulama reccomended muslimin and muslimat to practice doa and wirid originated from Al Qur'an and Hadits As Sahihah.

I felt not comfortable with Ahlul Bait term here, because in Muhammadiyah's perspective ahlul bait are all family of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Here, the writer call ahlul bait for a few people of Muhammad's family. As far as I know, the wifes of Nabi also called ahlul bait !

He write also about Imam (religious leader) with a title maksum (innocent). Oh my god ! I don't believe this. There is no gate between two taughts because fundamentally different between Syi'ah and Sunni. his book

Lagian... dalam konsep Syi’ah ada yang namanya taqiyah, kurang lebih artinya menyembunyikan keyakinan yang sebenarnya demi satu tujuan tertentu ! Demikian pernah disampaikan oleh Ketua PP Muhammadiyah Kyai Haidar Nashir. So, in my opinion this book is not my own reading because more of the content are syiah’s taughts !!!

a country with 5 minarets is a new book, published recently by Gramedia Pustaka Utama, a giant publisher in Indonesia. This book actually a fiction based on a true story about a friendship in a pesantren called "Pondok Madani" in East Java. Since the author is alumnus from Pondok Modern Gontor (Darussalaam is a real name of this pesantren, it means vilage of peace) . The story inspired by his own experiences there !.

By reading this novel, the readers will knows some social value systems of Pondok Madani. The book described mosaic of cadres in making for modern ulama's. Alumnus of this pesantren not only become a kyai/religious leader but also other professions such us journalists, lecturers, lawyers, traders, bussiness men, teachers and so on.

How to study english and arabic ! How about night patrol for santri ! Qeue up or to line up in take a meal, take a bath, and other activities in this "shaolin temple" ! The readers will know from protagonis view of Alif, a teenager from West Sumatra who travelled to seek Islamic studies in Pesantren. There is also a "Tyson" in this book, name given for a staff of Security Section of Students Organization of Pondok Madani with Thyson's look but with sportive behavior.

Previously I wrote an academic paper about pesantren in Yogyakarta, that was in 2003. So, I collected some book about pesantren, a kind of islamic traditional school in Java island, a prominent area of Indonesian archipelago. Karel A. Steenbrink, from Netherland, wrote this book. I found this book at Shopping Senter Jogja, a center for old books in Yogyakarta. This was academic paper based on research about Islamic educational system change in Indonesia.

Pesantren is a purely educational system in Indonesia before the coming of imperialist from west and west (united kingdom, netherland, portugal, and japan). In pesantren the core value systems came from islamic taught. The prime figure of pesantren is a leader called "kyai" . Kyai is a person with a broad knowledges about islamic studies. Usually they studied at another pesantren in this territory. Even they studied to another province. A candidate of kyai is called a "santri" (student of islamic knowledge).

After adaptation with western culture, there are some reform in pesantren. Some pesantren adopt western educational system. They build a new pesantren called madrasah. In madrasah, there are classical system with a curricullum.
